Park at 79 North Catamount Hill Road, Colrain (driving directions and map). Bring your picnic lunch and lawn chairs. In case of rain please meet at Colrain Community Church, 306 Main Road, Colrain.
- 11 am social hour
- 12 noon picnic
- 1 pm history of Catamount
- 2 pm flag-raising ceremony at the monument (an easy one hour hike is needed to get to the site of the monument from the picnic area)
Sunday, May 13, 2012 - Catamount Hike
We will have a choice of 2 guided hikes, each focusing on a different area of the Hill. Meet at 9:30 am at Colrain Central School, 22 Jacksonville Road, Colrain. Hikers will carpool to the trailhead on Catamount Hill. Bring sturdy shoes, water, snacks, bug spray. Serious rain cancels the hikes, merely threatening weather does not.
Saturday, October 13, 2012 - Hilltowns History Conference & Fair
At Colrain Central School, 22 Jacksonville Road, Colrain.
Inspired by the bicentennial of the first flag-raising over an American schoolhouse, the Hilltowns History conference celebrates the history of the 9 hilltowns. 20 workshops, children's activities, archaeological dig, keynote speech, "ask the experts", vendors, food booth, displays.
